With all the noise about King James going back home to Cleveland, we seemed to miss a BIG PLAY happening in New York. Carmelo Anthony put his career in Phil Jackson’s hand. Now that’s BIG! We all know that Melo has to change his game from being a scorer who play’s very little defense to a scorer and solid defender. I don’t think that Carmelo will ever be 1st Team Defense but he can work harder on the defensive end. With Phil Jackson being the the President he is committing to do just that. I really don’t understand why Phil Jackson won’t just get back on the sidelines. He will be coaching from the press box instead. He he will pick the offense, the players, and the system that they run. Why not just coach? But for whatever reason he doesn’t want to. It’s his choice and I respect Phil for what he has done and who is has done it with. But Melo has to change his game and he know it. Everybody play’s defense with Phil and we all know that Carmelo don’t do much D. But to sign with the New York he is committing to to just that. He know that we are gonna be watching him, it’s time to put up or shut up.
Please don’t expect a Championship in New York next season, not gonna happen. But I do see them making improvement’s with player’s first. Melo need’s s help and New York is a big market and in the next few years believe me Phil will get some player’s. They don’t have a lot of money to play with this year but next year some money will free up and watch out. I think they will make a strong play for Kevin Durant and thing’s change quick. But even without another big name player Phil can change things around in “The Big Apple”.
With that being said I don’t think Phil and Carmelo will bring a Championship to New York. They will give New York a team that they will be proud of but they wont win it all. There is to much pressure to win in New York and even Phil can’t win under these conditions. But the one thing about the NBA and free agency is you never know things and teams change overnight. Just ask the Miami Heat. IJS
