LeBron James is the most gifted offensive player that the NBA has ever seen. With his 6’8″ 250 pound frame he is a nightmare for any defender to guard. His ability to shoot the 3 point shot or drive to the basket makes him his teams primary threat. Now that he has been working out in the off season with Hakeem Olajuwon on his post moves, his game is impossible to stop. LeBron James can just have an off night, no player in the NBA can guard him. But, the only player that has even played in the NBA that can guard LeBron James, and have success, is Dennis “The Worm” Rodman.
Hall of Famer Dennis Rodman is one of the original Bad Boys, and A 7 time NBA All-Defensive 1st team player who led the NBA in rebounding for a record 7 seasons. His fierce rebounding and defensive skills would have been hell on LeBron. The 6’7″ Rodman who is a 5 time NBA champion is one of the last players who made a living on the defensive side of the ball. Taking charges, getting you frustrated, and just plain getting under you skin were all method that The Worm used for his benefit. His mental toughness is something that LeBron could not account for, and LeBron would have sweated over it. But times have changed and so have to rules of the game.
Rodman was a physical defender that used his hands and his body for leverage, and that would have worn on King James. Throughout the course of the game, Rodman’s style of play would have frustrated him. I believe that LeBron would have scored points, but when it really mattered Rodman would have shut him down. By no means is this a LeBron dis, but I loved to watch The Worm play defense and LeBron would have been just another victim. But being a real NBA fan, I would have loved to see this match up.
